hectic

after whole 2 weeks of warming up, now is when the hectic comes. CADP and DS submission in a row...

for CADP we're suppose to find a shophouse with airwell and forecourt and measure it. we faced problems while finding a suitable shophouse that suits our requirement. most of the shophouse are already demolished and reconstruct to fit the design today. finaly we found a shophouse in emerald hill.

during the drafting of the shophouse we'd faced some problems with incooperation with some of the group members and also it was a hectic trying to draw out an accurate CAD drawing. we've done a lot of ammendments again n again to the drawing. but...it's still not perfect....anyways...thanks to alvin n especially joycelyn with her knowledge of drafting our CAD drawing can go this far.

for DS, first we've a lecture about human body. then we're asked to design a thing that can be wear on the body with 1m of wire.
guess what does this thing does?

it's a leg bracelet =)

after that, we're asked to do a machine for people by taking off 1 of your senses. lots of us mistaken it to be a machine for the diabled.
my 1st machine design

our concept comes from the ski. this machine allows a person with paralyse leg to stand up and walk, there're two handle for the person with paralyze leg to hold with their hand and the handles are link to the pole. a soft material is placed at the end of the pole and slot into the shoe. the paralyse person can lift up their leg in order to walk.

comments on the 1st machine:

1. not comfortable. a person with paralyse leg might as well sit on a wheel chair rather than using this machine. somemore, the person needs to push down their feet in order to walk.

2. the way the paralyse people uses this machine to walk isn't the same as the way normal people walk.

3. a paralyse person can be considered to be a disabled person

we then proceed to our 2nd design. which is a lot better....
our concept comes from the the hair on our body. our body is covered with small hair. the hair brushes on the surface of a solid to enable the person to feel the texture of the object. this time we partially take out the sense of sight of the person. with sense of sight partially taken out, the person is unable to tell the distance between him and a object in front. therefore there's a huge tendency for him to knock the object in front. we create a machine that surrounds the body with hard material to protect the person when knocking into hard object, enhancing the sense of sound and enabless the person to feel the texture of the obkect- whether it's hard or soft.
