i choose this subject because we seldom see a shopping center in singapore with a large open space in the middle of two buildings and i think that the architecture style of Vivo city is different from many shopping centers here. i took this picture using 1 point perspective view and focusing at the blue sky.

i took this building because i think the combination of the between warm and cool lighting of the building is interesting.i enchance the quality of the picture by focusing on the reflection of the building on the floor after a heavy rain.

25/8/08...last day...YEAH!!!

today was the last day in studio...after tat...FREEDOM!!! we need 2 hand in our FDA today.

i faced lots problem when designing my 1st FDA.

1. i dont know how 2 use any 3D software

2. i dont know how 2 sketch a glass effecct

3. i dont have any idea of designing a furniture

after this FDA...i've learnt:

1. how 2 design a presentation board

i'll do better 4 FDA next year. by then i've already learnt a 3D software. =)

22/5/08...ann siang hill...

another outing b4 class ends... we went 2 ann siang hill n URA. in URA we can see the development of whole sin.

ann siang hill looks quite an old place where u can see old buildings. however...i think the architectural style is quite cool...u cant see this kind off design is modern generation now.

20/8/08...crit...

after submission...we all know crit is coming up. so here it is. the crit this time is different from the previous one. this time we need to present our work and the lecturer give comment.

comment on my work:
1. not garang enough
2. something seems missing
3. use a stronger material.
4. doesn't bring out the special effect of metal
5. no strong concept

disadvantage of metal:
too wobbly. doesn't look strong

15/8/08...big day...

i took taxi to sch today just to save my model from crushing down. when i reach class, everyone was busy submitting their work. their model was all nicely done. so, i wasn't quite satisfied with what i have. but...what to do...just have to submit,it everything.

28/7/08 till 14/7/08...BIG...

i've decided 2 use metal 4 my big model. so me n alvin went 2 geylang 2 look 4 the hardware shop KY suggested us 2 go. well...the metal sheet cost $11 4 A0 size. it was quite cheap.

i started off quite late compared 2 others. when everyone was busy going 2 workshop, i was there doing nothing. i've no idea what 2 do....just when everyone was setting up their bits n pieces, then...i started cutting the metal sheet.

good point about metal sheet:

1. can be cut using NT cutter. so i dont need go 2 the cramped workshop

2. can be done at home

3. easily bend

well...honestly i was doing quite fast. without knowing it, i was half way throught already while those who started off earlier than me still cutting their bits n pieces. so i go in a rather slow pace throuhout the whole process. slacking now and then.

however i ended up rushing through everything the night before submission. i touch up my model and draw my 16 tiles. it took me almost 24 hrs to finish everything. i ended sleeping in 4 a.m. in the morning.

25/7/08...movie time...

we started off by watching movie named labyrinth. it was an interesting movie. but then i didn't manage 2 finish watching it cause i went 2 ask 4 some comments frm kelly n KY.
then...final project:

1. big model based on 1 of the big tesselation
2. 16 tiles

18/7/08...small...

after tesselation....guess wat...modeling time again...this time, we need 2 form 4 cube using satay stick & masking tape.

then.. we project the tesselation into 3d form. we use Zo cards 2 make the 4th model

9/7/08 till 16/7/08...let's tesselate...

today we need 2 transfer our onthography drawing into tesselation. all u need 2 do is just by transfering it on grid.

then we take this 2 tesselation n rotate or mirror it 2 form other tesselation.

then we were 2 combine some of the tesselation 2 form 3 big tesselation. then design it with colour, patterns n tone

7/7/08..perspective...

1st thing in class...lecture on 1 pt perspective. then, draw using plotting method 2 draw 1 pt perspective on A1 paper. this is when all the problems come. i've no idea how 2 do it. luckily...after tons n tons of drawing from kheng yong, i FINALLY got it. =)

afternoon...model making time...this time we need 2 do model based on this:

impossible rite....but then... we manage 2 make it out =) all u need 2 do is draw 3 lines...LOL. let me show u

4/7/08...finally...

finally...!!! final pin up..!!!!! after many many sleepless night...today is the pin up day 4 all my onthography drawing. i've seen lots masterpiece arond the studio. amazing effect comes out when drawing in a subconcious mind...

lasalle... a great design sch with cool architectural style. n of course the student's work also very different from ours. theirs looks more artistic n more professional. well...guess i should learn frrom them. overall...it's a useful outing n i've learnt lots.
